Our Vision

SATH envisions a world where blind and sighted people live in equality, dignity, and harmony. We firmly believe that everyone has the equal right to participate fully in all segments of the society, regardless of their ability or disability.

  • Blind people have the same opportunities as sighted people to access education, employment, and healthcare.
  • Blind people are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Blind people are able to live independently and participate fully in their communities.

Our Programs and Initiatives

SATH works to achieve its vision through a variety of programs and initiatives, including:

  • Training and empowerment programs:

SATH offers training and empowering programs for blind and partially sighted people in a variety of life skills, interpersonal skills and independent living training series, which mainly comprise of household activities like, cooking, baking, and other kitchen oriented activities and personal care, and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR). These training programs help blind and visually impaired people to become more independent and self-sufficient.

  • Advocacy and awareness raising:

SATH conducts advocacy and awareness raising campaigns to promote understanding of blindness, inclusion, accessibility, and disability. These campaigns help to break down stereotypes and prejudices about blindness, and they raise awareness of the challenges that blind people face.

  • Support for blind and visually impaired entrepreneurs:

SATH provides support for blind and visually impaired entrepreneurs through training, mentorship, and access to capital. This support helps blind and visually impaired entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses, and it helps to create jobs in the community.

  • Collaboration and coordination with other like minded organizations:

SATH collaborates and coordinates with other organizations to promote inclusion and accessibility. These collaborations help to ensure that blind and visually impaired people have access to the same opportunities as sighted people.

  • Accessibility:

Our organization is very accessible. For instance, the founder of this organization herself is blind and 70% of other board members are persons with disabilities, who are reaching out to the beneficiaries in an accessible manner.

In this connection, We are tirelessly working to provide interpersonal skills and independent living training series specially to the marginalized and economically disadvantaged blind and visually impaired people in order to boost up their self-confidence and making them self-reliant.

Therefore, our long term vision is to establish an open kitchen and canteen run by the blind. This can also serve as an exchange hub to meet, and eat together and also for future research purposes which can be adopted by other blind people in the forth coming days.

Consequently, our ultimate aim is to create a more inclusive and accessible world for everyone.

SATH's Impact

SATH has made a significant and long lasting impact on the lives of blind and visually impaired people in Nepal. Since our founding in 2019, we have helped hundreds of people to develop theeir interpersonal skills and confidence they need in order to live independent and productive lives. We have also challenged negative attitudes and stereotypes about blindness by taking both blind and sighted counterparts in the single chain of mainstream development and also by promoting inclusion and accessibility, which in its real sense, helps to bridge the gaps between people living with and without disabilities.

SATH is strongly committed to continuing its work until every blind and visually impaired person in Nepal has the opportunity to reach their full potential. We firmly believe that everyone deserves to live a full and independent life, regardless of their disability. We are working to create a world where blind people can reach their full potential and contribute to society in meaningful ways.
